Synopsis
In the aftermath of 9/11, Michael and Mary inherit an old Delaware farmhouse filled with handmade quilts, forgotten belongings, and generations of family secrets. When Michael discovers a hidden passage inside the house, he is drawn into pivotal moments from his family’s past.
Moving backward through time—from an Easter dinner in 1987 to a Depression-era quilting bee, the aftermath of World War I, and the Underground Railroad—the story reveals a family divided and connected by race, sexuality, war, faith, and conflicting visions of America. Across the generations, the quilts remain: preserving memories, carrying hidden meanings, and binding together lives separated by history.
Guided by the recurring image of Michelangelo’s Delphic Sibyl, Patchwork explores what families preserve, what they conceal, and the hope that fragments of an inherited past can be assembled into something greater.
