The Sybil’s Rhyme

When Michael and Mary uncover a reproduction of Michelangelo’s Delphic Sibyl, Mary recalls a mysterious rhyme her mother sang to her as a child. Michael Angelo

1987

Five-year-old Michael arrives at the farmhouse with his mother, Catherine, bringing the family face-to-face with the child of the son who left them behind. His great-grandmother Hariette welcomes him as a chance to mend old wounds—but his arrival also exposes the resentments and prejudices that have divided the Mann family.

The Last Supper

At an Easter dinner in 1987, Michael’s family struggles to maintain a fragile peace as old resentments, buried histories, and sharply conflicting beliefs rise to the surface. When Michael’s father, Lucas, arrives late, the family’s uneasy reunion erupts over Hariette’s work on quilts for the AIDS Memorial—and her plea that they love and care for one another becomes a bitterly ironic communion.

Great Good

Left alone after the family’s disastrous Easter dinner, Hariette returns to her sewing and reflects on the suffering she has witnessed across a lifetime—the cruelty directed at her grandson, the division between her sons, a brother scarred by war, and promises of progress that brought new pain instead. Still, she holds fast to the belief that something better can emerge when people choose love and acceptance, even if they do not live to see it.

Just A Man

As one generation mourns the human cost of war, John questions why history elevates some men as heroes while leaving others unseen. Through stories of quiet courage, human failure, and two men living on opposite sides of freedom, he challenges the false idols people create—and reminds us that the choices of ordinary people are what shape the world.
